After graduating from Texas Tech, I thought I would spend my entire career with Southwestern Public Service Company in Amarillo. However, after the second merger, we moved to Minneapolis in 2001 as the Manager of Renewable Energy Resources. I stayed with the newly formed Xcel Energy for a few years, but left after 33 years to be with a wind development and construction company, enXco (EDF Renewable). I traveled quite a bit in that job, so when it was possible to move back to Texas, we moved to Flower Mound. After I left enXco, I worked for a transportation company, ATS, doing site supervision and route surveys for the transport of wind turbine components. After four years, I “retired” and started my own consulting business - Jones Site Management. I plan to work another couple of years before I completely retire.
After an unsuccessful marriage, I met Gloria Gibson, a sister of one of our classmates (Gail Gibson) in 1984. We married in 1987 and moved to Washington DC for a one year assignment with the Edison Electric Institute. We got custody of Marci and Corey from my first marriage shortly thereafter and had Kristina in 1988.
I received my MBA from WT in 1979.
